Abstract In order to respond a shortened development time of today’s transmission systems, the automation certain steps in design process is essential for ensuring an efficient process. Computer-aided tools are widely used analyzing given configurations because standardized methods available evaluate load carrying capacity all key components simple gear train, namely bearings, shafts and gears. At early stage development, requirements restrictions need be synthesized concepts. During this step, engineers typically rely on their experience proven practice. Design optimization usually achieved through iterative time-consuming tuning towards objective. paper time-saving, automated systematic method weight optimized helical gearboxes proposed. The underlying has been derived from both, norms guidelines, which exist layout shafts, bearings wheel bodies. Starting with only few input parameters, detailed shaft geometry different diameter sections can derived.
